A special characteristic of Super Science Kombat lies in the characters from the game, they are scientists, historians greatness of humankind. It’s interesting you could control this genius, and for them’, who pilots’ together.
The 2D fighting game will be familiar to anyone who’s played Street Fighter 2, and while Super Science Kombat does not match Capcom’s classic for aggressive gameplay, it compensates for this with exceptional pixel art, a terrific sense of humor and a wonderful choice of scientist characters with cool special moves.
With everyone able to utilize fun special moves based on their scientific specialty, often to comic effect — so Tesla can blast people with bolts of electricity, Marie Curie shoots radiation from her palms and Isaac Newton…. . Drops apples on peoples heads (sure it might not be the most spectacular of motions, but it is what he’s known for!)
You can play a quick game against any other scientist or participate in the tournament that sees you taking on all the other scientists, then combating GOD in a final showdown (it isn’t just any god, it is all of them!). Science and religion haven’t really seen eye to eye, and it appears that the gloves are off!
We’d like to see that the fighting mechanics refined a little more, but on the entire Super Science Kombat is a glorious little fighter with superior pixel artwork and a fantastic assumption. Any game where you are able to watch Steven Hawking slap Albert Einstein in the face with the display from his wheelchair is fine with us!
